today's lesson from a stranger

________________________________________________________________________

June the 2nd I left on a hitch-hiking journey around Europe with my camera and a backpack. I've just returned after more than 6000 kilometres of travel to 9 different countries in 51 days. On this trip I aimed to clarify the importance of the open meeting between people. While life sometimes seems to be an eternal struggle to gain individual succes, it is important to focus on the fact that world is fantastic, fascinating and accessible right here and now, if one embraces the meeting with strangers. I travelled by hitchhiking, and I always let the one that picks me up, lead the way forward.I stayed overnight at strangers, who I found on couchsurfing.org. The trip ended up being a search for the open meeting between strangers while still trying to understand what it means when someone does you the favour to give you a ride or offer their couch to you. This made me wonder what it is that makes people give so much of themselves to strangers, and what they expect to get in return for the favours. Is it love, attention or something completely different?
